Prophecy It is a concept that comes from Latin prophetīa, although its most remote origin is in the Greek language. Its about supernatural gift that allows to know distant or future things by inspiration of God . The term is also used to name the predictions made under this gift . For example: "The prophecy indicates that a new messiah will come in the future", "Many scholars argue that the terrorist attack was anticipated in some prophecies", "Thank you for the warning, but I don't believe in the prophecies.".
The prophecy, therefore, is a clairvoyance about the future . It differs from predictions in that these follow a logical process, while the prophecies are not linked to a reasoning but to a divine inspiration. In everyday language, however, there is talk of prophecy as the conjecture formed by signs or signs that are observed: "The prophecy of the deputy on social violence was fulfilled exactly", "Given this reality, my prophecy is that the fish will soon disappear from this river".
It is interesting to underline that one of the classic horror films is called "The Prophecy". It was directed in 1976 by filmmaker Richard Donner and is starring actors such as Gregory Peck, Harvey Stephens, David Warner or Lee Remick.
The story we are told is that of a marriage that he sees as the day of the birth of his first child, he is born dead. Therefore, without his wife knowing, the husband decides to replace him with a little boy who has been abandoned as soon as he reaches this world. What man could not know is that this child would be surrounded from that first moment by a large number of strange unexplained events where death is very present.
And it is that everything makes suspect that this little one is the Antichrist. The terror that caused this film and having become almost cult film work has led to the same has several subsequent films. Specifically, up to three more sequels have been shot. All this without forgetting that in 2006 we even proceeded to present a remake, directed by John Moore, and whose main actors were Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles, among others.
The religions Monotheists such as Christianity, Judaism or Islam consider the prophecies to be indicators of God's designs. The prophets , in this sense, they are messengers.
In this sense, we would have to establish, for example, that all written documents that were made by those known as major prophets and that can be found in what is the Old Testament are known as prophecies.
The parapsychologists and those who boast of having divinatory powers are also often defined as prophets. An example of these prophets is Nostradamus , who would have anticipated the arrival to the power of Napoleon Bonaparte and the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki , among other historical events.
